A project worth sh185,649,000 launched

Ground breaking of a project worth sh185,649,000 for the extension of piped water in Bugongi subcounty has kick-started.

Eng. Sam Kajojo District Chairperson informed members today 08.Feb.2023 at a ground breaking held at Bugongi Town, that the project is part of the council resolutions with Bugongi representatives Hon. Loice and Micheal.

“The council allocated a budget of sh185,649,000 to extend water in the selected villages of Bugongi Sub-County that is Murehe B, Rushebeya B, Kigarama and Nyakatunguru and among many applicants procurement awarded the contract to Vintum services Limited as the successful candidate” he said.

Eng. Sam called residents to be supervisors to make sure that the work is quality, the trenches should be 3ft , 10 taps will be constructed, each village will be with two taps.

He emphasised that all the manual labours should be people from the village for the community also to benefit at least 70% should be local content such that the system cycle of money remain in the village.

Walugembe Muzapharu DISO Kanungu who represented the RDC Mr. Mwesigye Ambrose called upon the water committee to make sure that they look after the project for the best quality.

He added that the LCIII talked about PDM, in Parish development model there is a pillar of mind set change that is the pillar which government is still working on because projects were many but they were not working out, people were not thoroughly prepared so we need to prepare our people, continue mobilising them on that pillar of mind set change to know that money is not for eating or consuming but it’s for development and is revolving fund they revolve, as they invest and save we don’t want it to fail also as other projects that we started with.

The function was attended by Ampumuza David TC Kambuga town council who epresentated the CAO Mr.Tweheyo Batega David Kobusheshe Martin assistant water engineer, District councilors Bugongi, Subcounty leadership and the community.
