Archbishop visits Omoro District

The Archbishop of the province of Church of Uganda His Grace Dr. Stephen Kazinba Mugulu has visited Omoro District.
The Archbishop visited St. James C.O.U in Lalogi Subcounty in Omoro District in his Pastoral visit to the Diocese of Northern Uganda. The service which started at 10:00am and ended at 1pm was filled with words of love and unity for the people of Omoro. In his preaching His Grace the Most Archbishop expressed gratitude love people showed him throughout his five days visit to the Diocese.
He dwelled his preaching on unity, love for one another, change of attitude towards life and humility. He said that Christians should change their attitudes towards life by not dwelling on the past because no one was born with wealth. He used himself as an example of how God lifts people from nothing to something; from nobody to somebody. The Archbishop warned Christians to desist from cheap popularity and focus on heavenly recognition by working hard and doing good. He warned people desist from unnecessary selling of land but instead using the land to get food and taking children to school.
With his great humility and service, he prayed for children, parents and restoration of marriages. He called upon those cohabiting to to take drastic measures and make their marriages legal at church. He promised to work with the Church in Omoro to bring transformation and development.
The District Chairperson Okello Douglas Peter who was accompanied by the Political leaders and Technical stall of Omoro district thanked the Archbishop for choosing to visit Lalogi-Odek Archdeaconry during his pastoral visit. He praised him for the wonderful words of hope to the people who were still recovering from the adverse effects of the LRA war. Mr. Okello Peter applauded the C.O.U for improving education and its contribution towards development in the district. He cited the support offered to Dream Center medical facility and establishment of the Child Development Centers (CDC) which had restored hope to the hopless. He informed the Archbishop on the efforts by the district in fighting Church conflicts between land donors and the Church by starting the process of land titling. He also prayed to the Archbishop to find ways of supporting Child mothers which had increased due to the impact of Covid19 lockdown. He praised the Area Woman Member of Parliament for establishing the Lamwaka Catherine skilling centers which supports Child mothers squire skills.
The Resident District Commissioner Mr. Onyuk Andrew in his remarks said that His Grace’s coming was timely and the message on land protection was paramount. He asked the Archbishop and the Clergyman to continue praying for the people of Northern Uganda to desist from selling of land and instead use it to solve problems. He said that there was vast land; virgin and fertile but people were stricken by laziness and poverty which needed God’s intervention. He said that the coming of His Grace would complement and strengthen government interventions of fighting poverty in the district.
The area woman MP Hon. Catherine Lamwaka was accompanied by fellow Members of Parliament from Nwoya and Gulu thanked Dr. Stephen Kazimba for his holy visit to Omoro during his third year in office. She said that the district was still grappling with the adverse impacts of the post war era and covid19 virus which had left families in poverty and child abuse. She said that rate of early marriages and child motherhood was very high and needed urgent intervention. She used an example of her skilling foundation that registers over 200 child mothers in a single day during registration of the new intake.
Hon. Catherine pleaded to the Archbishop with his connections to secure support for that category of people. She then applauded the Speaker of Parliament the Rt. Hon. Anita Among for the great support given during the visit of the Archbishop and also conveyed the apologies of the Area MP Omoro Hon. Andrew Oulanyah and Tochi County MP Hon. Okot Peter who were caught in in official duties. His Grace the Archbishop had been on his five days pastoral visit to the Diocese of Northern Uganda and was hosted by the Most Rev. Janan Loum, the Bishop of Northern Uganda. He was blessed with gifts and funds from MPs, the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, the Technical staff and the Christian body of the Omoro
