Drone Media locates tax evader

The registration plate on the vehicle in this picture was assigned to a motor cycle in 2006.

The Enforcement team  of Uganda Revenue Authority ( URA) is red alert on the look out for this car.

The owner is thereby advised to report to the URA head quarters or to the nearest police station immediately.

“We once again appreciate our online community for sharing the alert. There is no place for tax evaders in Uganda,” a statement by URA reads.

When you see a vehicle that looks suspicious, get your phone , take that pic and share with us.

It further states, “It takes all of us to curb the vice of Tax Evasion.”

Tax evasion is the illegal evasion of taxes by individuals, corporations, and trusts. Tax evasion often entails taxpayers deliberately misrepresenting the true state of their affairs to the tax authorities.

Tax evasion often entails taxpayers deliberately misrepresenting the true state of their affairs to the tax authorities to reduce their tax liability and includes dishonest tax reporting, such as declaring less income, profits or gains than the amounts actually earned, or overstating deductions.

The Drone Media has learnt and verified most people in Uganda who evade taxes use big names in government while others do it under the guise of security operations.

For instance, this car in question might be claimed by some people, who will say it is an operational car.

There has been cases of cars bearing foreign number plates, yet some of those are not operational cars, but owned by security operatives who are also obliged to pay tax.

This is a sign of disorganization that tantamount to insecurity. It not only disorganizes URA systems, but it also leaves the public in quandary. This is because whoever sees that car wonders whether it is the only one, yet it is a forged one.
