Kabafunzaki fails to turn up in court for the second time.

The Anti-Corruption judge, Justice Margaret Tibulya has ordered the arrest of former  State Minister  of Labour, Gender and Social Development Herbert Kabafunzaki after he failed to turn up in court for the second time.

The court issued this directive following a request from State Attorney Barbra Kawuma, a legal officer from the office of Public Prosecution, who asked the court to cancel Kabafunzaki’s bail and order for his arrest.

“I pray that the accused’s bail be cancelled for delaying the court proceedings,” she prayed,  and a request was granted by the judge.

Kabafunzaki who is battling with charges of corruption, was arrested on 8 April 2017 at Kampala Serena Hotel for receiving sh5 million as a partial payment for sh15 million he had solicited from Mohammed Hamid, AYA investment boss.

Kabafunzaki and his personal assistant ( Brian Mugabo and Bruce Lubowa) were later charged with two counts of corruption in breach of section 2 and 26 of Anti Corruption Act 2009.

According to the Act, any person convicted of an offence of corruption is liable to a term of imprisonment not exceeding ten years or a fine not exceeding two hundred and 40 currency points (sh4.8m) or both.

The minister and Lubowa also face charges of conspiracy to commit a felony,
