Middle East Consultants drove me to Luzira prison

It has been established that Middle East Consultants hired operatives to abuse rights of Pidson Kareire, who was arrested and dumped into police cells and later to Luzira Prison, last week.

Well, The Drone Media can assure the readers/Ugandans that people who surrounded Pidson Kareire’s house on Wednesday, wielding warrant of arrest, were later positively identified as staff of Middle East Consultants.

As a cover up trick, they were later joined by police of Old Kampala, but still that was after Pidson Kareire asked them why they did not consult LC committee. in short, the staff of Middle East Consultants executed the warrant of arrest, but is it legal?

As if that was not bad enough, they dumped the journalist into Kabalagala Police Cells and ordered inmates to beat him.

After court session, Pidson Kareire was driven by Middle East Consultants to Luzira Prison but with a police officer from Kabalagala Police Station. What does Prison Act 1958 sections 30 and 31 say?

Can you imagine, one civilian man from Middle East Consultants threatened to remove Pidson Kareire’s door as if he was an authority! Someone should explain, this is gross misconduct, who should protect us?

According to Uganda’s law, as soon as there is issuance of warrant of arrest,   if the complaint or one or more affidavits filed with the complaint establish probable cause to believe that an offense has been committed and that the defendant committed it, the judge must issue an arrest warrant to an officer authorized to execute it.

At the request of an attorney for the government, the judge must issue summons, instead of a warrant, to a person authorized to serve it. A judge may issue more than one warrant or summons on the same complaint. If an individual defendant fails to appear in response to a summons, a judge may, and upon request of an attorney for the government must, issue a warrant. If an organizational defendant fails to appear in response to a summons, a judge may take any action authorized by United States law

What is amazing is that Pidson Kareire’s lawyers had appeared but the Middle East Consultants continued to abuse the court process.
