“During many of his unending battles at KCCA, Lukwago had snubbed meeting anyone linked to President Museveni for possible reconciliation but has met Saleh on numerous occasions starting at Serene Hotel in Mutundwe 2016/17 because Lukwago possibly believed Saleh could be of help, after all, Lukwago says that Saleh is part of Uganda’s “deep state,” reads part of Ofwono Opondo article at the Uganda Media Centre website.
“Lukwago had been impeached by KCCA councilors and thrown out of office, had nasty working relationships with then KCCA Minister Frank Tumwebaze, and Executive Director Jennifer Musisi with his wings heavily trimmed,’ Opondo asserts.
Lukwago was indicted on eight charges and acquitted on four by the Justice Catherine Bamugemereire Tribunal, and had stalemate in courts. Partly due to Saleh’s efforts, Lukwago after a protracted wait got back his office, salary arrears and other perks, ” he added.
Meanwhile Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has said he won’t be surprised if he is killed one of these days because of stiffened fight against the mafias who are stealing the tax payers money at KCCA.
Lukwago said he is ready to go and rest with his father Hajji Mirundi who was buried late last year but will never give up fighting for the people who trusted him with the office he is in.
“Lukwago should take me to court if am falsely accusing him over Gen Saleh’s chit,” Kyofatogabye, the State Minister for Kampala says.
Frank Gashumba recently said that he believes the letter circulating on social media from Gen Saleh to Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago is authentic 100% not fodged as some people wanted to claim.
Speaking to Adam Kungu on radio 4, Gashumba pulled out one of the notes the Gen Saleh wrote to him and compared the handwritings and signatures which he said and identical 100%.
Gashumba adds that he is not surprised that Lukwago is among the compromised politicians who claim to be fighting the NRM government yet they work with it underground further adding that there are so many other opposition politicians falling in the same category.
“Iam like a young boy who works for a witch doctor in a shrine. I see pastors, Bishops, nuns, Sheikhs and many respectable people in society coming to perform rituals at the shrine,” Gashumba said using the analogy to explain how many opposition politicians claiming to be fighting government instead are working for it.
Since the letter circulated, the Lord Mayor has decided to go to court filing a suit against the Newvision publications for allegedly trying to tarnish his name and image.
