POWER WILL ONLY CHANGE THROUGH ELECTIONS, NOT ANY OTHER MEANS- GEN. OTAFIIRE

By Correspondent
Minister for Internal Affairs Gen Kahinde Otafiire has hinted on the issue of a transition in Uganda a topic that many Ugandans in and in the diaspora always discuss about on who can easily succeed Gen Museveni who has ruled Uganda for generations.
Gen Otafiire says that even when the NRM used force to take power in 1986, such means can never be used again in Uganda because there is a clear constitution which stipulates on how one who wishes to occupy the top seat in Uganda should do and that is through an election.
Otafiire adds that many groups have in the past tried to use unpleasant means to snatch power away from the NRM but have failed because the NRM has the capacity to defeat any form of political unrest in the country.
He also adds that Ugandans should not be misled by politicians who want to sacrifice them for personal gains urging the people to desist from riots an avenue the political opponents want to use to take power just as it happened in Sudan, Tunisia Egypt and many other countries.
“We are aware of what happened in Sudan, Zimbabwe, Egypt and so many other countries but we have built the capacity to defeat such nosense from happening. If you want power, wait for 2026. We shall campaigns and elections. Sell your manifesto to the people and they will vote for you,” he says.
Otafiire also says that whoever has personal issues with Museveni should look for him and they talk rather than trying to play political games to tarnish the name of the country and the NRM.
