Robert Kabushenga tenders in his resignation

By Our Correspondent

The Vision Group CEO Robert Kabushenga aka Robert Mukholi has reportedly tendered in his resignation. According to his post to the Company Board, Kabushenga threw in towel.

Insiders say, Kabushenga will stay at the helm of the company until May, 2021 when a new CEO will be availed.

Several notably former Presidential Press Secretary, Joseph Tamale Mirundi, have been calling for the resignation of Kabushenga over what they allege was mismanagement of the company.

This ends three months of speculations, rumours and all sorts of unsubstantiated and unverified allegations, claims and flowing of information, all saying one thing -the Vision Group CEO had been sacked. Indeed now no one can refute the information. However, what remains is a matter of discussion about whether it is a sack or resignation, and why?

In an email to staff on Friday ( January 29, 2021) today, Kabushenga explained  his decision, which he said the board had agreed to.

“This is to let you know that for personal reasons I have asked the Board for an early retirement and this has been accepted,” he wrote.

Kabushenga explained that he will over see a 90-day transition, as requested by the Board, before moving on.

“I am proud of the success we achieved   and the impact we have had in in society. This was possible because we worked together as a team. For me, it was an absolute honor and pleasure to have done so,” Kabushenga concluded.

Kabushenga has had several accusations. Last year, 2020 the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga asked Parliamentary Committee on Finance to investigate Vision Group over closure of all their regional newspapers.

Mbu Kabushenga’s salary was slashed to sh7m from sh24m, claiming it was an example to the rest of the staff.

The April notice from The New Vision newspaper announced staff salary cuts and the management took drastic measures to reduce the wage bill in a bid to cope up with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
