NTV’s Rachael Mwine shares her marriage bliss

Happy 8th anniversary to us! Writes Rachael Mwine about her marriage.  Eight (8) years ago on 28th September, Ben and I said I DOOO!!
And in today’s Wednesday Wisdom it seemed fitting to tell you guys a few lessons I have learnt about marriage.
One of the things I have found to be true to be about love is that every marriage has a purpose, the same way individuals or organizations have their purpose. I think it’s incumbent upon every couple to find out what their purpose of their marriage is.
Maybe God brought you together to create a business, or put a church together or whatever reason it is really… find out the purpose of your marriage, and that will be part of the anchor or foundation that holds your marriage, writes Rachael Mwine.
So I’d encourage you to use whatever way you use to find the purpose of your life to use that same way to find out the purpose of your marriage.
My way is I go back to God – I’ve had the opportunity to do it and I’m starting to see why God put my husband and I together.
Secondly, Mwine says, ‘your spouse is not your enemy. And I learnt this lesson the hard way. In the beginning, I spent way too much energy focusing on where he’s gone wrong, and what he isn’t doing right and he should be doing and I was frustrated in the early, early years and I constantly saw him as an enemy of our progress.

I quickly discovered that I should look at my self as an individual, realize that I’m not perfect and that if I start to focus on myself which I did – it definitely put less pressure on my husband and made me realize that my spouse is not my enemy.
I’d also say practice forgiveness until you become perfect at it. When we do wrong and are offended, it’s natural for us to be unwilling to forgive. But in order to live in harmony with another person in a marriage, I think it’s important that you practice forgiveness as often as you can because the more you do it, the easier it gets to forgive
So in the last 8 years, those are the lessons I think I’d pass on about marriage! Let me know what has worked for you in your own marriage in the comments below.
