The second day of the nomination exercise for Presidential Candidates, for the 2021 General Elections, was partly characterized by several acts of violence, resulting from defiance.

As it is the Electoral Commission issued very clear guidelines prohibiting all forms of processions and assemblies, to guard against the spread of Covid-19.

However, in defiance of the Electoral Commission guidelines on processions and rallies, both Hon. Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert and Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat were resultantly involved in violent running battles with the Joint Security Teams, following disagreements on their movement plans.

Police car vandalized by Bobi Wine’s supporters
Hon. Amuriat blatantly defied the traffic flow plan agreed upon from his home in Najjera to Kyambogo. He instead opted to proceed to Najjanankumbi to lead a delegation of over 2000 supporters in total disregard of the Electoral and Health SOPs. He however, was safely transported to Kyambogo by Uganda Police Force.
Eddie Mutwe, Bobi Wine’s body guard injured in the defiance
Hon. Kyagulanyi Sentamu, initially cooperated with the escorting team from Magere but was delayed by several hold-ups along the way, due to the many mobilized supporters along his prescribed route.
It is very clear that the two opposition leaders Hon. Kyagulannyi and Hon. Amuriat, thrive on defiance, which they use for political capital. Otherwise, other seven candidates who include the incumbent, President Yoweri Museveni Tubuhaburwa Kaguta and the beautiful Nancy Kalembe, flaunted graceful nomination.
The only female candidate Nancy Kalembe
Candidate Nancy Kalembe, the only female candidate among eight males, is described by many as ‘beauty and brains.”  She is articulate, eloquent and oh she had everything in her head.  No need to read.  Many have so far nodded for her, saying the sky is the limit.
You wonder why some candidates opt for violence means, yet they wont succeed.
