Kabalagala phones snatchers, Abid Alam, in jail

Kabalagala Police Station carried out an intelligence-led operation commanded by OC Muyenga Police Post on Muyenga Road on 7/4/2020 at around 4:00PM targeting phone snatchers, who steal from residents moving back home.
The operation led to the arrest of Ocheme Charles, 27, a boda boda rider, resident of Muwafu zone.

On interrogation, Ochema led the operation team to Wabigalo parish at the residence of Seguya Ivan , 27, a phone technician at Hanifa Towers in city centre Kampala, who allegedly buys stolen phones and laptops.
Seguya was also found together with Wahab Taban, 24, a boda boda rider and resident of Muwafu zone Kibuli Parish.

A search was conducted in the house of Seguya Ivan and the following items were recovered;
– 01 Apple laptop
– 30 iPhones
– 14 other phones (samsung, Intel, infix)
– 31 dismantled phones
– 01 Smile mi-fi.
– 35 smart phone covers
– 02 laptop chargers
– 06 phone charging cables.

All the three suspects are currently detained at Kabalagala and we have preferred to investigate allegations of robbery and being in possession of suspected stolen properties. The file will later be forwarded to the RSA for advise and probable sanction so that the trio can appear in courts of law.

Meanwhile, The Drone Media has learnt that Afande Edith Nakalema has sent property mogul Abid Alam to Kassanda Police Station for allegedly destroying property and injuring people during an eviction exercise in Mubende.

MP Simeo claims this investor whose agents raped a woman in Kassanda, reportedly owns detention centres where he tortures Ugandans before evicting them from their land.

Security Minister Gen. Elly Tumwine has ordered for the arrest of tycoon Abid Alarm for alleged destruction of property and attempted murder.

The new orders has come after Police in Kassanda, greater Mubende district launched a probe into illegal destruction of property and attempted murder carried out by yet to be identified people over the weekend, where Abid is alleged to have been behind the deadly scenarios.

SP Bob Kagarura, the Wamala Regional Police Commander confirmed that three people, all employees working for Arthur Mugyenyi, an employee of the Predident’s Office were injured in the attack.

“A group of men with armed with pangas and machetes attacked the farm and destroyed one acre of banana plantation and killed some goats,” Mr. Bob said.

He added that the residents later called the police which came to people’s rescue.
