Busoga MPs say enough is enough to Alitwala Rebbecca Kadaga

By Correspondent

MPs from Busoga sub-region painted the clearest and boldest picture to the Speaker of Parliament which simply screamed – Enough is enough!

This was at Continental Hotel in Iganga where the Speaker had convened a meeting for all the MPs from Busoga as she pushes for her third term as the Speaker of Parliament. In the region, Kadaga has hold the highest office and is therefore supposed to be a representative and uniting force of the region.

However over time, it has appeared that after being able to get votes as Woman MP since 1989 and as Speaker of Parliament for the last ten years, she forgets about the people of the region and turns to her own selfish interests which is to hold power.

Out of the 41 MPs, only 12 turned up for the meeting that she had called. It is not that the other 28 MPs couldn’t make it for the meeting, they were making a statement to say they were tired of Kadaga.

After being in Parliament for over thirty years now, there has been no evidence to show that the Busoga region has someone who holds such a third position in heir-achy in government. There has only been division amongst the MPs and amongst the people in Busoga.

After all these years in power, you’d expect that there will be great developments in Busoga because of the power that she holds. This has not been seen.

Voting for her as speaker for the 5th time will only mean that the people of Busoga continue to leave with all the discrepancies that Kadaga has brought to the region since her time in power.
