Moses Matsiko to revive Inter Region Golf

New Uganda Golf Union president Moses Matsiko has promised to revive the Inter Region Golf tournament in his two year tenure in office.

The newly elected golf supremo made the statement after being elected in a UGU elective assembly held recently at Palm Valley Golf and Country Club at Akright Housing Estate in Kakungulu in Bwebajja.

“We shall revive and have a good dialogue with the various sponsors and revive the inter region golf tournaments which shall create various committee’s to executive the tasks that I have said,” Matsiko said.

“We start with focusing on awareness with this new handicap system in place with all clubs in the country those upcountry we shall train the captain’s of these clubs and we shall co-opt committees that will execute several tasks at the same time  I will resign as the captain of Lake Victoria Golf Resort and Spa and concentrate on the huge task ahead.”

Matsiko, beat Paul Baite by a 21-10 vote to become the new UGU president for the next two year’s he previously has served as national team manager for two years and has been playing golf for 6 years and is a handicap 3 golfer.

The Vice president’s post was retained by John Katto, while the new secretary is Anthony Agaba while the new treasurer is Joseph Bagabo executive members include Dr Robert Ejiku and Jackson Were.

Matsiko, hirtherto a national team manager and golf captain at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, takes over from Innocent Kihika who was voted in 2018.

Matsiko beat Paul Baite by 21-10 votes in the annual general assembly held at Palm Valley Golf Club on Friday night. He will be deputised by John Katto retained his position.

Anthony Agaba is the new General Secretary, taking over from Baite while Joseph Bagabo takes over from Sam Kacungira as treasurer.
