By Mwajuma Twaha Adams

Kanungu RDC has asked Ministry of Education to intervene in Great Lakes Regional University conflicts.

Kanungu Resident District Commissioner Ambrose Mwesigye Amanyire  said that Ministry of Education and Sports should facilitate a quick dialogue to solve the impasse at Great Lakes Regional University in Kanungu District.

According to the letter dated 3rd January 2023, addressed to the Minister of Education and Sports, the RDC gave four possibilities of how the issue at Great Lakes Regional University can be solved.

RDC Mwesigye Amanyire asked the Ministry of Education to steer dialogue between the two rivaling parties and technically guide them the right path in favor of the innocent students’ community.

Mwesigye Amanyire also asked the Ministry to put in place efforts to bring the National Council for Higher Education and office of the IGG to lift the ban on graduation of students.

He also asked the Ministry to prevail over the new management of the University to present a clear management and sustainability strategy since the University has been running in donor funds.

RDC Mwesigye Amanyire also advised that the rivaling parties should be convinced to rescind their litigation advances both in civil and criminal aspects for the good of the project and the plight of the benefiting community.
