President’s car smashed by goons in Arua

 

The President’s car that was attacked by opposition supporters, smashing the hind window, this evening in Arua town.

The police will issue a detailed statement on this incident.

Mbu moments before the fatal incident, Bobi Wine had showed up at Bruce Musema’s rally as Besigye was speaking in apparent routine political mobilisation strategy.

He hoped to use his celebrity status to attract the youth at the rally. A sober Besigye criticised Bobi Wine, which compelled him to give up and leave. His entourage ran into the President’s motorcade soon after.

Meanwhile police says at least 34 people have been arrested following the chaos that broke out in Arua town on Monday evening which resulted in the shooting of a driver, Yasin Kawooya.

“One of the President’s cars was attacked and smashed by these hooligans that were donning colors of one of the contestants in this election, Mr Kassiano Wadri,” Police Spokesperson, SSP Emilian Kayima said in a statement.

Day 2 (two), the Regional Police Commander (RPC) Jonathan Musinguzi addressed the press.

Musinguzi said there was a scuffle that led to death of one unidentified person from Kyadondo East Legislator, Robert Kyagulanyi’s team that had come to give support to the independent candidate, Kasiano Wadri.

The Regional Police Commander, Jonathan Musinguzi further explained that a group of people were booing the president’s convoy while he was exiting Arua, after addressing a rally for the NRM flag bearer, Nusura Tiperu forcing security agencies to swing in action and fire into people.

Musinguzi revealed that actually 38 people including Francis Zaake, Kasiano Wadri, one of candidates vying for Arua Municipality Parliamentary seat on independent ticket plus journalists were arrested and were kept at Arua Central Police Station.
