Uganda’s legislators ask UNEB to give singer Bebe Cool’s son supplementary exams

MPs have asked the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB)  and the Ministry of Education and Sports to allow Alpha Thierry Ssali, the child to singer Bebe Cool to sit his S.4 examinations.

Ssali missed the examinations after he participated in Uganda’s U-20 side, the Hippos at the African Cup of Nations final competitions. Ssali missed the exams in February after his parents consented to the choice.

According to the state minister for education and sports minister Denis Hamson Obua he telephoned Cool to find out if he agreed to let his son miss the examinations at the time.

He said Cool had consented. He said they have asked UNEB to consider giving supplementary exams and were waiting their response.

The CAF U-20 tournament took place at Nouadhibou, Mauratania. Ssali is an ‘O’-Level student at Kitante Hill School. Betty Nambooze (Mukono Municipality) and Joviah Kamateka (Mitooma) asked government to consider giving supplementary exams to the students who missed.

The CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Tournament is due to take place between 13th to 31st March 202l in Rabat, Morocco.

Three S.4 Secondary School Students on the U-17 Travis Mutyaba – St. Mary’s Kitende SS, Ivan lrinirnbabazi – Royal Giants SS, Mityana and Oscar Mawa – Gombe SS are expected to miss the exams. Their parents consented to their travel.

MPS asked the ministry of education to come up with a policy or regulations that support such students who miss the examinations while on national sports duty to be given supplementary examinations to enable their talents grow.
