Why Col Kaka Bagyenda is under house arrest?

News streaming in from the corridors of power indicate that former Director General of Internal Security Organisation (ISO) Kaka Bagyenda was put under house arrest last night immediately his house was searched.

Sources privy to security have revealed that a search was conducted last night at his home, thereafter he was placed under house arrest.

It is believed that Col. Kaka Bagyenda is being investigated by a sister security agency for an undisclosed reason. However, another source pointed fingers on missing files and other illicit deals.

“Yes we mounted a search last night but I am not in position to reveal the details. Wait when the operation is done, details will be made public,” a source intimated.

Col. Bagyenda’s problems started two weeks ago when his close associate Amos Rwangomani was arrested from a city restaurant by security operatives and it is said his arrest could be connected to Rwangomani.

Col. Bagyenda was dropped as ISO DG in January 2020  and was posted to Angola as Uganda’s Ambassador.

While speaking to the press Col.Kaka said that his enemies are framed him to be part of the people who have been sponsoring Machete wilding assailants who have killed more than 26 people in greater Masaka region.

Unknown persons from late July terrorised six districts in Greater Masaka, including the city, by staging gruesome night raids in which they used machetes to chop dead mainly elderly residents.

Two MPs Mohammad Ssegirinya (Kawempe North) and Allan Ssewanya (Makindye West), who both subscribe to the Opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party, have, alongside more than a dozen others, been arrested and charged in court first with murder and attempted murder before state added the offence of terrorism.

The duo was granted bail, but Mr Ssewanyana was rearrested upon release from Kigo Prison while his co-accused Mr Ssegirinya remained in custody at Kigo Prisons.

In a telephone interview, Mr Kaka did not name the individuals hounding him, but said they are desperately trying to connect him to the murders and violence in Greater Masaka region.

There is presently a lull in the killings following the massing on the ground of security and intelligence operatives amid a visit by the Security minister, Brig Jim Muhwezi, as well as a parallel fact-finding mission by MPs.
