Testimony of Entebbe international airport mess

Entebbe International Airport

Entebbe Airport: On 18th May 2022 my sister was traveling to seek for green pasture just like any other person out there. She was all excited (finally her dream to travel has come true). We arrived at the airport an hour before her check in, few minutes upon our arrival we received phone call from her agent who asked her to go to the tent upstairs and present her COVID test result for verification.
I accompanied her to the entrance of the tent being that it was her first to travel, few minutes after the verification her agent called directing us to sit somewhere as we wait for someone who was going to help her inside. The next call we got from the agent was for her to proceed to the gate because the person was already waiting at the gate.
I went and waited downstairs at the tent, I wanted to confirm she boarded before I leave the Entebbe International  Airport. After about 30 minutes I called her to check on what’s happening and how far she reached with the check in…. only for her to broke the news that seemed like a nightmare to me till today.
Her passport was held and she was sent aside as they were working on others. My heart skipped abit, I began to sweat. Immediately I called her agent who tried almost everything but all in veil. Later we were told that the passports (others inclusive) were taken to airport police so we should go and find it from there.
We took a cab and rushed to the police, unfortunately it was already 7pm and most of the officials were out of office so we were asked to come back the following day. It was such a TENSION and RESTLESS day. I was sick suffering from Typhoid but the panic, movings made me even more weaker.
The next day my sister went back but they kept asking her to come back next day, next day up to the period of one and a half month (18th May to 30 June) after getting a letter from a labor company requesting for the passport. During that moment we were tensed, mentally, emotionally and financially drained. My sister became so desperate, she had sold almost every her house holds just to travel. Many times she threatened to commit suicide.
Later we got to know the person who’d help her passport….. she’s called Madam Sylivia on Ministry of Labor desk, I will put her contact in the comment section.
Till today I failed to understand what are the legit documents one should have in order to travel. You stop someone from traveling it’s not just him or her but also her family, friends and entire neighborhood. People sacrifice a lot in order to travel but just because you’re corrupt and hungry, you end up shutting one’s dream for your selfish gains.
