Katuna export zone market receives warehouse

Katuna export zone market has  received a warehouse. Kabale District leaders, led by the District Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma and Chief Administrative officer, Fred Kalyesubula, have today officially received the Katuna Export Zone Market Warehouse.

The warehouse was constructed by the Ministry of Trade Industry and
Cooperatives to help cross border traders at Katuna/Gatuna border to
sort and pack their merchandise before they are taken to market
places.

According the Kabale District LC5 Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija,
the warehouse, which is located on the Kabale-Katuna road in Kamuganguzi
sub county, will also help to add value on locally produced goods and others that need value addition before they are taken to market
places.

This, he said will help locally produced commodities in Kabale District in particular and Uganda at large to compete on the international market.

According to the Chief Administrative Officer Kavale District Fred Kalyesubula, Katuna export zone market warehouse which was received today 10/Jan.2023 will also act like an international Market between Kabale and neigbouring Countries like Rwanda which is very close to Katuna.

Kalyesubula added that different types of commodities will be sold in the market like beans, onions, peas, Irish potatoes, sweet potatoes and other items like clothes, shoes.

 

Katuna is a centre for two Countries Uganda and Uganda and it is the market that brings all business men and women from the two countries together in Kabale district. All exports that go to Kigali in Rwanda are mostly stored in Katuna. And this ware house will help in safeguading traders commodities from theft and all business men will be ease knowing their commodities are well protected.

It will be  a centre for stores of all different commodities and this will also increase on the source of income for the district through local revenue.
